Jazz Jennings feels that she is being “humbled” by her workout experience now that she’s gained over 100 pounds.
“I Am Jazz” Season 7 is coming back this week for another episode. Ahead of Tuesday’s installment, an exclusive sneak peek was released by People, and it showed Jazz hitting the gym with her friends as she continues to work on shedding extra pounds.
At the start of the clip, the 21-year-old trans activist struggled to perform the routine for the rower machine. When she and her friends then moved on to doing some medicine ball slams, she also complained about having a hard time doing it.
“I can’t do this. But I can, and I’ll try… but I can’t,” Jazz said in a confessional while addressing her new fitness-focused lifestyle.
While sharing her musings over the physically strenuous activities, Jazz looked back on the time when she was more active. She admitted that the tough workouts she used to do easily are now “humbling” her.
“This is embarrassing because when I was younger, I used to be so dominant. When I played soccer, I was the best. When I ran the 40-yard dash, I ran the fastest. And now, it’s like, ‘We’re humbling you,’” she said in the video.
The teaser also showed a scene where Jazz and two of her friends perform some elevated jump squats as part of their workout routine. After successfully completing 10 jumps, Jazz took a break and grabbed the opportunity to thank her pals.
“Thank you for doing this with me though. I need this. Even though it’s hard and I’m struggling, I need to start somewhere, you know,” she told her friends.
In a confessional, Jazz shared that having her friends by her side means so much to her because they’ve been very supportive of her decision to lose weight.
“They assure me that if my ambition is to lose weight and be healthier, they'll be by my side and help me with that,” she said.
Earlier this month, Jazz revealed in a Zoom interview with Today that the current season will mostly focus on her weight loss journey.
At the time, she admitted that she felt vulnerable sharing her weight struggles with the world. However, she made it clear that she was ready to do it because she knew that they’ll be covering a lot of issues that need to be discussed and that many others are also experiencing.
A week after the interview, Jazz took to Instagram to thank her siblings for being her “greatest supporters” amid her journey to lose weight and get healthy again.
“I Am Jazz” Season 7 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on TLC.
