Amazon (AMZN) CEO Jeff Bezos could ultimately become the world’s first trillionaire and reach the mega status by as early as 2026.

The Amazon CEO currently has a net worth of $143 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire’s Index, which has reportedly grown by $18 billion since April 12. Amazon sales reached $75.5 billion in Q1 2020.

Bezos holds an 11% stake in Amazon and has held the title of the richest person in the world since 2017. If Bezos reaches trillionaire status, he will be worth more than the gross domestic products (GDP) of 179 countries, the New York Post reported.

Bezos net worth has grown on average of 34% over the last five years, Comparisun, the platform that has predicted the trillionaire achievement, noted.

A 4% stake in Amazon was given to Bezos’ ex-wife MacKenzie Bezos in their divorce settlement. At the time, the shares were worth $35 billion, CNN reported. MacKenzie committed half of her wealth, $36.6 billion, to charity through the Giving Pledge.

Bezos is currently dating former news anchor Lauren Sanchez.

Bezos journey to trillionaire status is being tracked by Comparisun, which looked at the growth rate of the world’s 25 richest people and 25 highest-valued companies on the New York Stock Exchange, calculating yearly percentage growth over the last five years.

Shares of Amazon stock were down 0.06% as of 10:28 a.m. EDT on Thursday.
