Television personality Jen Shah has revealed why she wanted Kim Kardashian to be part of her team of lawyers, while speaking of her legal troubles.

Shah and her assistant, Stuart Smith, were facing federal charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering in connection with a telemarketing scheme.

"I'm fighting for my freedom," the 48-year-old said on "Up and Adam" YouTube series Thursday. "I'm innocent. I'm not guilty of any of these charges that I've been accused of. I'm innocent."

She went on to share why she mentioned Kardashian's name for her legal team.

"I was being very serious when I mentioned Kim Kardashian, because I respect Kim Kardashian for the work that she has done," Shah said.

Shah continued to share what all work Kardashian has done for the Black community people, who have been wrongly accused and put into the prisons.

"I am grateful for the work she has done for the Black people that have been wrongly accused, that have been imprisoned, that she has fought for, that she has lobbied for, that she has gone to the White House to fight with, alongside their family, to get people out," Shah continued.

"The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" star further added she respected Kardashian and "look up to her" for all the work she has done so far.

Shah also mentioned how difficult it must be for Kardashian to pursue law school.

"I supported my husband through law school. I saw how grueling that is. I know what it's like to watch somebody prepare for the bar exam, you know?" Shah said. "And I believe she did it to further help people and be on the right side of justice, and I admire that."

Shah and Smith were arrested in March 2021. According to the reports, Shah and her assistant had allegedly victimized over 10 people through a nationwide telemarketing scheme. Following their arrest, both pleaded not guilty in April 2021. However, in November 2021, Smith pleaded guilty.

On the work front, Shah has been a regular on "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" since 2020. She also appeared in a documentary, "The Housewife & the Shah Shocker" last year.
