  • The singer-actress revealed that the actor planned their Las Vegas wedding

Jennifer Lopez opened up about the real reason why her surprise wedding with Ben Affleck in Las Vegas took place, revealing that she felt "all the pressure" of planning a big family wedding.

In July last year, the 53-year-old "Marry Me" star and 50-year-old "Argo" director made the headlines after they unexpectedly tied the knot at A Little While Wedding Chapel in Sin City. Their two children, Lopez's daughter Emme, 14, and Affleck's youngest daughter, Seraphina, 13, were the only ones present.

The couple then held a formal and intimate wedding ceremony a month later, inviting their family and closest friends to Affleck's Georgia estate in Riceboro.

During a press conference for Lopez's upcoming movie, "Shotgun Wedding," held last week, the actress was asked about her wedding preparations, where she jokingly responded that the "stress" of wedding planning was what prompted her elopement with the "Batman" star, according to Insider.

"I think that's why we ran off to Vegas and got married there first," Lopez said. "Took all the pressure off of the big family wedding that we were having."

She added that Affleck was responsible for the Vegas wedding, but the couple worked hand-in-hand in planning their formal wedding.

"[Affleck] has an amazing eye. He has incredible taste. But everything we do, we try and do it together," she said, adding that planning a wedding was "very stressful."

Lopez and Affleck have been happily enjoying the first months of the marriage, going on a post-wedding getaway to Paris, France, with their five children, Lopez's 14-year-old twins Max, and Emme, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and Affleck's daughters Seraphina and 16-year-old Violet, and son, 10-year-old Samuel with Jennifer Garner.

The blended family was also spotted going on a Christmas tree hunt in Santa Monica, California, last December, last preparation for the annual holiday.

Most recently, the actress also talked about the "emotional transition" of blending families with Affleck in an interview on "Today" while promoting "Shotgun Wedding," a romance-action film with her co-star Josh Duhamel, to be released on Amazon Studio's Prime Video on Jan. 27.

"We moved in together. The kids moved in together," Lopez told Today's host Jason Kennedy.

She continued, "It's been, like, a really kind of emotional transition, but at the same time, all your dreams coming true. And it's just been a phenomenal year. Like, my best year I think since my kids were born."
