Ken Jennings received flak from the netizens due to an old tweet after he announced that he would be hosting "Jeopardy" in January.

Jennings was chosen as the first interim host for "Jeopardy" following Alex Trebek's passing. The netizens questioned the decision and mocked Jennings for an insensitive tweet he made back in 2004 that he already deleted. However, some were able to get a screenshot of the tweet, and many felt that Jennings was mocking the disabled people in it.

"Nothing sadder than a hot person in a wheelchair," Jennings wrote.

"I'm disabled. I use a wheelchair due to spina bifida. I was outraged when this tweet happened in 2014 and I'm outraged now that @Jeopardy is using this cruel man as an interim host. Who TF makes a tweet like that??? It's cruel," one commented.

"THis is disgusting - I hope they fire his a--! This is not Alex's legacy!" another wrote.

"He deleted the tweet only after he got a spotlight put on him despite being asked to for those full six years and ignoring it. Not exactly a sign of growth,” another online user added.

Meanwhile, many defended Jennings because the tweet happened a long time ago. For them, people should learn to move on instead of cultivating the cancel culture.

"This thing where we bring up past tweets to stir up controversy and keep folks from getting jobs is getting so old," one wrote.

Many also reminded others to not take Jennings' tweet seriously because they believed it was just a joke and should not be a big deal. Another reminded the rest that no one is perfect.

"I guarantee you, Alex has told a bad joke at some point in his life that you would find offensive... just like every other human being on the face of the earth. It's not a big deal, so stop pretending that it is," a netizen commented.

"None of us are perfect. We are to quick to judge others,” Michael Brown wrote.

Jennings scored a Grammy nomination for narrating Trebek's memoir "The Answer Is...Reflections on My Life." However, he questioned why he held the nomination solo because for him, Trebek should also be recognized.

"Wait, what??" he tweeted. "This should 100 percent be Alex's Grammy nomination. He wrote the book and reads much of the audiobook! Who do I speak to about this?"
