Dirk Nowitzki led the Dallas Mavericks to victory against the New York Knicks, scoring 28 points to bail his team out after they fell behind during a seven-minute scoreless stretch at the start of the fourth quarter. The Mavs' forward then kicked off a game-winning 14-0 run by nailing a 14-foot fade-away jumper, much to the dismay of NY fans.

Perennial Knicks fan Spike Lee tweeted during the game.

Turnovers Are Killin' Us. Protect Da Ball. Jesus Christ On The Cross, he wrote, expressing his dismay.

The knicks trailed by up to 19 points throughout the game, before coming from behind to score 15 points in the fourth quarter for a brief 78-77 lead and a bittersweet glimpse at victory. NY was led by Amare Stoudemire, who scored 26 points. Jeremy Lin managed just 14 points and seven assists. Two-and-a-half weeks ago when the Knicks beat the Mavericks, Lin had an impressive 28 points and 14 assists, marking the height of Linsanity. Just a few weeks later the Lintensity appears to have fizzled out.

Rodrigue Beaubois added 18 points to the Mavericks win, and Jason Kidd contributed anout 15 points and six assists. The Mavericks came into the game off a loss in Oklahoma City the previous night, and played without their starting center Brendan Haywood.

According to Coach Rick Carlisle, Haywood is still dealing with swelling after rolling his angle at the start of his game against Oklahoma. He was brought on to the team to replace Chandler, who got a $56 million, four-year contract with the Knicks.

This was the second of four consecutive road games for the Knicks. They will play in San Antonio on Wed. night.
