With fans set to return to WWE events, there are rumors that wrestling’s biggest star of the last two decades is also set to make a comeback. John Cena has confirmed that he’s not finished with wrestling.

“Those rumors are true. I’ll definitely be back to WWE,” Cena told Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” Wednesday. “I just don’t know when.”

It’s possible that Cena isn’t being completely honest about his eventual return. There have been multiple reports that WWE is aiming for Cena to have a match with Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the main event of SummerSlam.

SummerSlam is set to take place on Aug. 21 at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium. Cena hasn’t appeared on WWE TV since his WrestleMania 36 match with “The Fiend” Brady Wyatt on April 5, 2020.

“I haven't had my last match, and I can’t wait to have my next match,” Cena said.

It’s been well over two years since Cena had a match in front of a live WWE crowd. The 16-time world champion hasn’t been a member of WWE’s full-time roster since 2018.

Similar to The Rock, Cena left WWE to pursue a career in Hollywood. Cena is starring in “F9: The Fast Saga” and “The Suicide Squad,” both of which are set to be released this summer.

Cena didn’t have a match at WrestleMania 37 in April. It marked the first time since 2003 that Cena wasn’t part of WWE’s annual marquee event.
