  • Scott Adkins is in talks to join “John Wick: Chapter 4,” a report says
  • Keanu Reeves is reprising his titular role for the fourth installment
  • Lionsgate revealed that production on the action movie has started

Scott Adkins, who is famous for his roles in direct-to-video action films, could be the newest addition to the cast of the fourth installment in the “John Wick” franchise.

The 45-year-old actor and martial artist is in talks to join the Keanu Reeves-led cast of the Lionsgate project, Deadline exclusively reported Tuesday.

If the negotiations are fruitful, Adkins will be joining the 56-year-old Hollywood veteran in the movie, along with the other stars, such as Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson and Rina Sawayama. Chad Stahelski is also coming back to the director’s chair for the fourth movie.

“John Wick 4” would be a reunion project for Adkins and Yen as both of them starred in the 2019 film “IP Man 4: The Finale,” the last installment in the “IP Man” Chinese box office franchise for Pegasus Films.

While the talks are still ongoing, Adkins is currently busy filming Netflix’s action comedy “Day Shift,” which stars Jamie Foxx, Meagan Good, Dave Franco, Karla Souza, Eric Lange, Zion Broadmax and Snoop Dogg, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

The fourth “John Wick” movie was supposed to film back-to-back with a subsequent fifth installment. However, production on the two movies was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Variety learned early this week that “John Wick: Chapter 4” is set to commence its production this summer in France, Germany, New York City and Japan. The cast and crew will have to work on a tight schedule as the film has been scheduled for release on May 27, 2022.

On Tuesday, Lionsgate revealed via Twitter that production on “John Wick 4” has already begun. The entertainment company shared a snap of the director’s chair on one of the sets of the film and captioned it, “Anybody got a pencil sharpener? ‘JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4’ is now in production.”

Screenplay for the movie was written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch. Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Stahelski are producing, while Reeves and Louise Rosner are executive producing the project.
