Keanu Reeves has managed to once again thrill the fans and rule the box office, which has resulted in not only a confirmation of “John Wick: Chapter 4” but also the announcement of a release date for the film. Reacting to the news in a recent interview, the actor expressed his gratitude for being given the opportunity to continue this story.

Reeves called the success of the “John Wick” movies as something “really special” in an interview with ET Online. The actor appreciated the way the fans have “embraced” these films. He was speaking at the premiere of the film “Always Be My Maybe” at the Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, California.

"It's something that you hope for, but it's still pretty extraordinary," Reeves said about his action move franchise.

He added that the love the fans have shown for these films is “really so special.”

Talking about the announcement about “John Wick: Chapter 4,” Reeves said that it was “really cool” to have this opportunity. He added that the only way he and the other people involved in these films get the opportunity to continue making these films is if the fans love what they make.

“So it was cool for the studio to support that and say, 'OK, you can keep telling this story,’” Reeves said.

As far as the details about the film are concerned, the actor remained tight lipped and only said “we’ll see what happens.”

Reeves hasn’t confirmed that he will be reprising his role in the next instalment of the film, but signing on the actor may be a mere formality at this point. For the time being, the actor will be busy playing regular roles in projects like the Netflix romantic comedy “Always Be My Maybe.”

“John Wick” movies are action packed thrillers that show Reeves’ character killing a lot of people. One thing that some fans like to do is count the number of people the protagonist kills in each movie. So far, the character has killed more people than horror icons Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers combined, Screen Rant reported.

The action heavy nature of the film means that people get hurt on the set. In a recent interview with “The Ellen Show,” Reeves revealed that he does 85 to 90 percent of the action himself, and although he didn’t get hurt while making the recently released film, the actor did reveal that he accidentally kicked someone in between the legs in one of the scenes.

“John Wick: Chapter 4” will be released on May 21, 2021.
