Boxing legend Juan Manuel Marquez ranked the BMF’s in boxing and gave UFC star Nate Diaz some piece of advice.

Last Saturday, Nov. 2 went down as one of the most historic dates in the history of combat sports. Aside from the noble move of Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to light heavyweight to face Sergey Kovalev, UFC created the one-off BMF title fight – a first in the history of all MMA.

After the epic events, legendary Mexican boxer Marquez showed up in conferences and shared his thoughts about the fights. In a brief talk with Elie Seckbach of EsNews, Marquez was asked who he thinks is the “BMF in boxing.” According to the legend, reigning WBO welterweight champion Terrence Crawford is “No. 1” in his list of boxing BMFs. His fellow Mexican warrior Canelo follows at No. 2 and Ukraine’s Vasyl Lomachenko is at No. 3.

“I think Terrence Crawford (as) number 1. Number 2, maybe Canelo Alvarez. Number 3 – Vasyl Lomachenko,” Marquez revealed.

However, Marquez seemed to be pleased with the guts of Canelo to step-up and face a much bigger Kovalev. Just moments after he revealed his top 3 BMFs, he stated that Canelo could also be considered the No. 1 BMF in boxing.

“Maybe Canelo Alvarez is number one, I don’t know,” Marquez added.

Marquez then was asked about what he would like to tell Diaz following the devastating loss to Jorge Masvidal in the UFC’s BMF title fight. As per Marquez, Diaz looked great but he needs more intense training.

“Message for Nate Diaz? I saw the fight, you look great. You need to keep training very hard,” Marquez noted.

Ahead of the Diaz vs. Masvidal fight, Marquez already predicted that Diaz will lose to Masvidal. Based on his assessment, “The Stockton Slugger” is approaching his twilight years in MMA. As opposed to Masvidal, who is on his prime.

“I think Nate Diaz is a good fighter. But I think he’s going down right now in his career. I think Masvidal in the best moment for him,” Marquez pointed out.

“I think Masvidal can win the fight,” Marquez added.

When pressed about how Masvidal would win the fight, Marquez admitted that he wasn’t sure. However, he strongly believed that it would be an “ugly fight” and Masvidal will win via KO.

“I don’t know (but) it’ll be an ugly fight. Maybe Masvidal by Knockout,” Marquez predicted.
