• Kai Havertz reportedly only wants Real Madrid
  • Bayer Leverkusen has already turned down Real's initial offer for Havertz
  • Bayer Leverkusen hopes to have Havertz for a longer period of time

In-demand rising star Kai Havertz has reportedly been eager to sign with Real Madrid, a new report has claimed.

Following an incredible goal scoring season with Bayer Leverkusen, Havertz is now one of the most sought-after attacking midfielders in Europe. At 21, Havertz is already tipped to become a future superstar, tallying a total of 44 goals and 27 assists in 144 appearances.

The biggest clubs across Europe’s top five leagues have been bidding for the German attacker ahead of the summer. It was previously reported that Premier League giants Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have been courting Havertz. However, a recent report from Sportbuzzer (via claims that Havertz wants to take his talents to LaLiga. The outlet also reported that the midfield star only wants to join Real Madrid as he has always dreamed of playing at Bernabeu.

And it is apparently mutual interest on both sides as Madrid is also highly interested in signing Havertz. Previous reports revealed that Los Blancos had already put an initial offer on the table for Havertz’s transfer. The amount was around €80 million ($90 million). However, Bayer Leverkusen said "no" and reportedly turned down the bid for their star’s exit.

While clubs continue to race for Havertz, Leverkusen’s director general Fernando Carro remains straightforward regarding the youngster’s situation. According to Carro, Havertz has been with them for quite some time, but he will keep everybody posted as to what the Leverkusen star would want to do next.

"In Kai's case, we are noting that there are lots of clubs interested in him. He has been with us for 10 years. I note the keenness of the player to make his next move in the near future," Carro told Kolner Stadtanzeiger.

While Carro chose not to elaborate more details about Havertz’s transfer, Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes revealed that the German side has no plans of parting ways with Havertz at this point.

"We don't know yet what's going to happen to Kai. We know that all the big teams in Germany and Europe are after him and that he has the ability to play anywhere. I can only say that I love watching him play and I hope he continues to play as long as possible at Bayer Leverkusen," Rolfes recently told Marca.

"Kai is under contract until 2022. We're calm. We talk to him, his family and his manager all the time. From then on, we'll see,” he concluded.
