The most important AFC West matchup of the season is in Kansas City on Thursday, but both teams are dealing with serious injuries. The Kansas City Chiefs (11-2) will take on the Los Angeles Chargers (10-3) in a battle for division supremacy, but star players like Tyreek Hill, Eric Berry and Melvin Gordon might not play.

For the Chiefs, it is looking more and more like Berry will return to the field for the first time since September 2017. The All-Pro safety has been sidelined for more than a year because of a torn Achilles and a nagging heel problem.

Berry was listed as questionable on the Chiefs’ injury report on Wednesday, as he was a limited participant in practice all week. However, the Chiefs may have tipped their hand by tweeting a hype video for the game on Wednesday that prominently features Berry.

The Chiefs’ top wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, was also listed as questionable with heel and wrist injuries. Hill was visibly limping at points even while he caught eight passes for 139 yards on Sunday. That said, all signs point to him playing on Thursday.

Kansas City will likely be without three offensive starters on Thursday. Guard Cam Erving and running back Spencer Ware did not practice this week and were both listed as doubtful. Receiver Sammy Watkins is out for the game.

For the Chargers, running back Austin Ekeler was declared out for the game. Melvin Gordon, who has missed the past two games with a knee injury, will travel with the team to Kansas City and is questionable for the game.
