The Kansas City Chiefs’ first opponent in the 2019 NFL Playoffs will be determined on Wild-Card Weekend. Of the four AFC teams scheduled to compete in the first round, only one isn’t eligible to visit Arrowhead Stadium in the second round.

Kansas City will host the Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens or Los Angeles Chargers in the divisional playoffs. The Houston Texans will visit the New England Patriots next weekend if they win their first postseason game.

The Chiefs might know their upcoming opponent by Saturday night. Indianapolis can guarantee themselves a trip to Kansas City by defeating Houston in the first game on Wild-Card Weekend. Because the Colts are the No.6 seed, they can only face the No.1 seed Chiefs in the second round.

Houston is a slight favorite over Indianapolis Saturday afternoon, according to the latest betting line at OddsShark. A victory for the Texans would mean the winner of Sunday afternoon’s contest between the Chargers and Ravens will visit Kansas City in the divisional round.

Baltimore is favored by a field goal at home over Los Angeles Sunday afternoon.

L.A. and Kansas City battled for the AFC West title all year. The Chiefs clinched the division championship and home-field advantage until Super Bowl LIII in Week 17, though they finished with the same record as the Chargers. The AFC West rivals split their season series, and Los Angeles won in Arrowhead Stadium 29-28 just three weeks ago.

Baltimore visited Kansas City a week before Los Angeles played there. The Ravens nearly upset the Chiefs as Patrick Mahomes led a game-tying touchdown drive in the final minutes. The Chiefs escaped with a 27-24 win in overtime.

The Colts and Chiefs didn’t meet in 2018. The two teams did have a historic playoff matchup in Andy Reid’s first season as Kansas City’s head coach. Indianapolis came back from a 28-point deficit in the second half to win 45-44 on 2014 Wild-Card Weekend.

The Chiefs went 7-1 at home in the regular season. Kansas City outscored their opponents by 115 points at Arrowhead Stadium.
