Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle do not also wear seatbelts just like Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip due to two reasons.

Security expert Simon Morgan recently told Hello! magazine that the appearances of the royals need to be factored in when wearing or not wearing their seatbelts. He said that if the royals are going to an important event, their looks are given utmost importance.

“Protection is a very unique area of policing and there are a lot of grey areas, but you are always judging each situation to weigh up the risks and threats with the outcomes you are trying to achieve,” he said.

Morgan, who is from Trojan Consultancy, also said that oftentimes the royals are encouraged to travel without a seatbelt on for safety reasons. In case of an emergency, it would be much easier to whisk them out from the vehicle if they didn’t wear one.

Two weeks ago, Prince Philip made headlines after he collided with a Kia while driving his vehicle. The Duke of Edinburgh didn’t have anyone in the car with him at that time. It was learned that the 97-year-old didn’t have his seatbelt on, and he was slammed for it.

One day later, Queen Elizabeth was photographed driving her vehicle – but with a companion. However, she also didn’t have a seatbelt on. The two senior royals were slammed for not obeying the law just like everyone else. But it has now been revealed that there is an important reason why this has been the case.

Days after the accident, Emma Fairweather, one of the two other people involved in the accident, revealed that Prince Philip already reached out to her and apologized. Prince Philip sent a letter to Fairweather and said that he was somewhat shaken after the incident but was glad that no one got seriously injured.

“I was somewhat shaken after the accident, but I was greatly relieved that none of you were seriously injured,” he wrote.

Middleton, Markle, Prince Harry, Prince William, Prince Charles, and Camilla Parker Bowles have all been photographed without their seatbelt on.
