Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle both had their Princess Diana moment during their two separate engagements.

The Duchess of Cambridge channeled her late mother-in-law in her polished look during her appearance at the Coach Core in Basildon, Essex, on Tuesday. Middleton wore a grey printed blazer by Canadian brand Smythe that looked exactly like what Princess Diana wore many years ago.

However, the mom of three opted to accentuate her look with a black turtleneck. Princess Diana, on the other hand, paired her jacket with a white collared shirt and what looked like a bow tie when she visited the charity Barnardos in 1984.

Markle, on the other hand, appeared to have a Princess Diana moment when she flashed her legs during her New Zealand tour with Prince Harry. But Emily Chan, a journalist for the Daily Mail, said that what royal fans saw was just an optical illusion.

The stripes on Markle’s Givenchy skirt made it seem as though her undergarments were showing. Princess Diana also had a similar incident in 1980 when royal fans thought they saw her legs through her sheer lace skirt.

Lucas Armitage, a fashion expert, explained the illusion to the publication.

“Certain fabrics with a heavy woven effect can strobe on camera. Strobing is something you may have noticed on TV when someone is wearing stripes or check patterns and this causes an optical illusion which creates a moving flickering look. I suspect this is what is happening here and the fabric is a thick heavily-woven piece creating a camera strobe and the illusion it is sheer,” he said.

Markle and Prince Harry kicked off their first overseas royal tour of Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand on Oct. 15. They are expected to fly back to London today and will take part in a series of engagements in the United Kingdom in the coming days.

Other than this, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are also awaiting the arrival of their first child in the spring of 2019. The "Suits" alum pregnancy was announced by Kensington Palace on Oct. 15 while she and Prince Harry were in Australia.
