Kate Middleton is a mom to two adorable royal babies, Prince Charles, 3, and Princess Charlotte, 1. The Duchess of Cambridge talked about motherhood again in her speech in the recent mental health advocacy event.

“Nothing can really prepare you for you the sheer overwhelming experience of what it means to become a mother,” Middleton said in her speech, Fox News reported. “It is full of complex emotions of joy, exhaustion, love, and worry—all mixed together. Your fundamental identity changes overnight. You go from thinking of yourself as primarily an individual to suddenly being a mother, first and foremost.”

Prince William’s wife admitted that motherhood is a rewarding and wonderful experience. However, the task remains challenging for her even if she has a huge support compared to most mothers. Middleton added that there were times when she lacked confidence and felt ignorant.

However, William thinks otherwise. The Duke of Cambridge is all praises to his wife when it comes to parenting. “I’m very lucky in the support I have from Catherine. She’s an amazing mother and a fantastic wife,” he told ABC News.

The prince agreed that parenting is challenging. He added that having a daughter gave him a different dynamic because he grew up without any sister. So he is still learning about having a girl in the family.

Middleton and William enjoy the luxury that most parents can’t afford. Due to this, many do not completely agree with them when they talk about parenting.

According to Barba Ellen from The Guardian, Middleton may have been genuine when she spoke about the challenges of motherhood. However, when the Duchess of Cambridge described it as “overwhelming,” the word may mean differently than how most parents grasped it. Middleton has a team of nannies, cooks and house helpers, which removed a huge chunk of parenting responsibilities for the royals.
