Kate Middleton and Prince William’s security during their royal wedding was a very big piece of work.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s big day was dubbed the wedding of the century. However, for the security team’s point of view, it was very stressful as it took a lot of work on their end to ensure the royal couple and the guests’ safety.

“That was a very, very big piece of work. Lots of different working and moving parts. Everybody had to play their own part,” former royal protection officer Simon Morgan told Us Weekly.

“Obviously, [it took a] very long time [for] the planning [phase] and certainly the eyes of the world are on that particular event. So, you’re making sure that nothing goes wrong because, as a protection officer, you wear many different hats,” he continued.

Morgan explained how their role was representing the royalty protection and the Metropolitan Police service and British policing. It also represents the Majesty’s Commonwealth and every other business that trades under the British flag.

He also admitted that while the future king and queen of England exchanged “I do’s” the security team were feeling the heat to make the ceremony run smoothly because if something happened it would reflect the nation. Morgan recognized the pressure and shared that they dedicate several hours in planning.

“As a protection officer, a lot of your time is spent planning, so what you see as the end product, whether that be the royal wedding, the walkabout, the opening and closing of a hospital, the commissioning of a ship, that’s very much a snapshot of the end,” the former royals employee said.

As for serving the royals, the protection officer has nothing but positive words to say. According to Morgan, the members of the royal family are “nice and accommodating people.” They made sure that they are on the same team as the security personnel.

In related news, Middleton and Prince William took a break during Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s half-term break. The royal parents of three have made it a habit to always take some days off from their royal duties during their kids’ half-term break, so they could have some family time.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have already returned to duty. Prince William and Middleton stepped out on Feb. 25 to attend the production of “Dear Evan Hansen” at the Noël Coward Theatre. Middleton outshone her husband by wearing sparkling heels with a matching clutch.
