Kate Middleton and Prince William recently faced backlash for refusing to practice social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.

This week, the royal couple visited the staff that is working at NHS 111 to express their gratitude for everything that they have been doing amid the outbreak.

“Catherine and I were proud to visit staff working at NHS 111, to pass on our personal thanks, along with those of my grandmother and father, to staff working around the clock to provide care and advice to those that need it most,” Prince William said.

The Duke of Cambridge also encouraged everyone to follow the directive given by WHO, which states that everyone should stay at home on self-quarantine.

“That means acting on the latest expert advice, staying home if we or those we live with have symptoms, and avoiding non-essential contact to help reduce the spread of the virus,” he said.

But on Twitter, the royal couple was lambasted for not practicing what they have been preaching. Royal fans noticed that Prince William and Middleton stood and sat very close to each other even after they were advised to practice social distancing.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also spoke to the staff at NHS 111 who sat close to each other.

“Can we talk about how we’re supposed to be practicing social distancing and they are like 2 feet away from people,” one person tweeted.

“Guys, I love you but stop going around. Stay home,” another person wrote.

“Guys, stay at home!!! Covid is no joke! No masks??? Really???” another person commented.

“William and Kate are being irresponsible. How are they going to tell people to stay home while they continue to do appearances and not practice social distancing?” Twitter user @LadyAndTheDood said.

“The #NHSstaff keep saying #StayAtHome esp for non-essential travel and that applies to William and Kate, too. Not only did they not even respect social distancing but they were more than 10 people in a closed space. Totally insane behavior from @KensingtonRoyal,” Twitter user @SussexDetective said.
