Kate Middleton's black cocker spaniel puppy has been keeping her company for several months now while Prince William has been stationed with the British Royal Air Force in the Falkland Islands.

The puppy is the son of a dog belonging to Middleton's mom, Carole Middleton, and may have been a gift from Prince William for her 30th birthday.

But although the dog has been spotted several times, the royal couple's press officers have always refused to give news sources his name, citing the Duchess of Cambridge's privacy.

In the end, however, it was Kate Middleton herself who ended up revealing the name of the floppy-eared puppy.

The Duchess was visiting schools that use art therapy to help children with behavioral problems when she let the name slip at the Rose Hill Primry School in Oxford, UK.

Lisa Hancock, the art room manager, told the Telegraph that the children had selected a toy dog for Middleton to hold during the lesson. When the Duchess of Cambridge arrived, she asked if she could give it a name.

And she said, 'I will call it after my dog,' Hancock said.

So what is Kate Middleton's puppy's name? Accoridng to St. James's Palace, which recently confirmed Hancock's report, it's Lupo, derived from the Latin word for wolf.

And if photos of the puppy are indication, this is one dog whose cuteness gives Queen Elizabeth's corgis a run for their money.
