Olga Rypakova captured the gold in the women's triple jump final on Sunday.

The Kazakhstan star leaped to a mark of 14.98 meters, which was close to her season best of 14.84.

Colombian Caterine Ibarguen earned the silver with a mark of 14.45. Ukraine's world and double European champion Olha Saladuha, who was considered among the favorites, came in third at 13.92.

Rypakova, a former heptathlete and long jumper, had won silver in March at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul. The 27-year-old had previously won gold in 2010 at the Asian Games.

Great Britain's Yamile Aldama finshed in fifth. She had won gold in the triple jump in Istanbul, and was considered a strong medal contender.

Tatyana Lebedeva announced her retirement after finishing 10th. The Russian had previously won two silver and one bronze Olympic medals dating back to 2000.
