Even though Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom ended their marriage, it doesn't mean the reality star no longer cares about her ex-husband. In a scene for Sunday's episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," the 31-year-old gets a phone call from Odom, who appears to be upset over the death of his longtime friend Jaime Sangouthai.

"This is just really upsetting," Kardashian says during her confessional. "[Lamar's] distraught and devastated. Lamar has suffered so much loss in his life."

"I’m always gonna be there for Lamar, especially when something as tragic as this happens,” Kardashian continues. The reality star adds that she's on "high-alert" because she's worried Sangouthai's death could cause the former NBA player to spiral out of control again. "That's the last thing I want for him right now," she says.

In the video Kardashian’s friends Malika and Khadijah Haqq tell her they feel for Odom because he "can't get a break."

Sangouthai died June 14 from a bacterial skin infection. At the time, it was reported that Sangouthai contacted the illness from using unclean drug needles. Sangouthai, who frequently appeared on the reality series "Khloe & Lamar," sought medical help for the infection, but doctors said it was too late.

Less than a week after Sangouthai's death, another of Odom's friends, Bobby Heyward, died from a suspected drug overdose. Heyward's last Instagram post was a memory he had shared with Sangouthai.

Kardashian and Odom have had their fair share of problems, but it's clear they both still care for each other. Check out the sneak peek below, and don't forget to tune in to "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" Sunday night at 8 p.m. EDT on E!.
