There is no clear favorite entering Saturday's Kentucky Derby.

With Omaha Beach out, as well as intriguing longshot Haikal, bettors are wondering what's the best bet for this year's race at Churchill Downs. There are 19 horses to choose from and this year's field has been defined by parity.

The Favorite

Game Winner has the best odds at 5/1. Roadster and Improbable are not far behind at 6/1. All three are trained by Bob Baffert.

The Biggest Underdog

Gray Magician and Master Fencer are the obvious underdogs at 50/1 odds. They are behind a pack of six thoroughbreds that are 30/1 underdogs.

Interesting Underdog

Vekoma. Trained by George Weaver with Javier Castellano as the jockey, Vekoma might be a surprise winner. Many racing experts believe Vekoma has comparable speed to Game Winner and Improbable and they like his post position.

Expert Frank Angst of The Blood Horse picked Vekoma to win.

But Vekoma, who has 20/1 odds, has no experience on a wet track and it is expected to rain for the race.

Prediction

Improbable. It will probably be a wet track Saturday and Baffert has a legitimate contender, who finished second on a sloppy track at the Arkansas Derby.

The Lexington Herald-Leader had insight from 20 experts. Five experts picked Game Winner, while four picked Improbable.
