Kevin Belingon
Kevin Belingon begins his quest for redemption at ONE on Prime Video 4. ONE Championship

KEY POINTS

  • Kevin Belingon faces Kim Jae Woong at ONE on Prime Video 4
  • Belingon joins his Team Lakay stablemate Stephen Loman on the card
  • The event is headlined by Christian Lee challenging for the ONE welterweight title

Stephen Loman will not be the only prominent member of the legendary Team Lakay who will don the stable's signature bright red trunks at the much-awaited ONE on Prime Video 4 on November 19 (November 18 in the United States).

A reliable source has confirmed to the International Business Times that Kevin Belingon will be returning to action on the undercard of the aforementioned live event against Kim Jae Woong in a three-round bantamweight clash.

The former ONE bantamweight champion will seek to arrest his four-fight losing skid at the expense of Kim—an ex-No. 2-ranked featherweight contender who will be moving down a weight class to face the Filipino spitfire.

Belingon's unfortunate string of losses began when he relinquished his hold of the gold-plated belt to Brazilian arch-nemesis Bibiano Fernandes via disqualification due to what was deemed by the referee as intentional blows to the back of the head in their March 2019 rubber match.

Both men had the chance to run it back seven months later, but this time around, Fernandes laid the grueling rivalry with Belingon to rest by scoring a decisive finish via second-round submission.

"The Silencer" then suffered a heartbreaking stoppage loss at the hands of UFC veteran John Lineker in a battle of lethal strikers in November 2020.

A victory remained elusive for Belingon as he succumbed to a 52-second body-punch knockout to South Korean hard-hitter Kwon Won Il in December 2021.

Now, Belingon will have an opportunity to kickstart a career resurgence versus an opponent who is equally hungry for redemption.

Kim competed as a featherweight for the majority of his decade-long mixed martial arts run, authoring high-profile exploits against the likes of Rafael Nunes, Tetsuya Yamada and former ONE two-division titleholder Martin Nguyen.

However, the 29-year-old South Korean's current state of affairs is far from ideal as he began his 2022 campaign with a first-round knockout loss to Tang Kai this past March and then suffered a first-round submission defeat to Shamil Gasanov last October 22.

In his quick turnaround, Kim will be given a chance to hit two birds with one stone—to end the year on a victorious note and open a new chapter at bantamweight opposite a division mainstay.

ONE on Prime Video 4 is set to take place at the 12,000-seater Singapore Indoor Stadium, and the fight card is headlined by reigning lightweight kingpin Christian Lee challenging Kiamrian Abbasov for the welterweight championship.

Meanwhile, Belingon's teammate Loman is booked to go head-to-head with Fernandes in a potential bantamweight title eliminator.
