Gianna Bryant maybe just 13 years old but Kobe Bryant was already paving the way for her daughter to have a bright future.

That’s what Kobe Bryant ensured her eldest daughter when TMZ Sports reported that the former Los Angeles Lakers great penned a nickname for Gigi, who is an emerging basketball talent.

According to the reports, paperwork was already filed to have the nickname “Mambacita” for Gigi – a feminine yet still fierce monicker that was derived from the “Black Mamba” himself. The papers were submitted barely less than a month ago – December 30.

The nickname, according to the documents, will be trademarked not just for the name to be only associated with his daughter, but as well as for future business use. “Mambacita” is about to be used for sports merchandise such as shirts, jerseys, shorts, hats, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and hoodies – an indication that there are plans that Kobe will be starting a clothing line for Gigi.

“Mambacita” didn’t just come out of nowhere. Other than being a spin from Kobe’s famous basketball monicker, the former two-time NBA MVP was also calling Gigi that name on his social media posts about her.

In this post, he shared a video of Gigi converting a shot from the rightwing off a very familiar-looking fadeaway. Kobe also used the Mambacita hashtag to spread the word out about her daughter.

On what turned out to be his last post about her daughter was a photo of a much younger Gigi wearing his black Lakers jersey.

Kobe praised the defense of Alyssa Altobelli to her daughter, who still swooshed the ball with the familiar fadeaway. Altobelli, together with her parents were in the helicopter when the accident happened.

Kobe, Gigi, Alyssa and parents John and Keri, coach Christina Mauser, Sarah Chester ad daughter Payton, and the pilot Ara Zobayan were killed when their helicopter crashed Sunday morning.
