KEY POINTS

  • The Los Angeles Lakers are now up 3-1 against the Houston Rockets
  • Anthony Davis led all Lakers with 29 points and 12 rebounds
  • Lakers head coach Frank Vogel says there’s no room for complacency now

The Los Angeles Lakers are now ahead 3-1 in their playoff series against the Houston Rockets after a 110-100 victory. Despite the advantage, head coach Frank Vogel shared that the team will not be complacent in the games to come.

Closing out the series will be difficult in any context and the championship experience of LeBron James and the rest of the team’s veterans know this. For Vogel’s squad, he knows that taking it easy against a team such as the Rockets will prove to be a problem.

"Overall, it's a heck of a win for our group," Vogel said.

The Lakers were led by the double-double performance of Anthony Davis. The All-Star big man had 29 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks.

"Again, we're not going to be comfortable playing against this team with the firepower they have," Vogel continued.

With James leading the team with a near triple-double of 16 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists, the Lakers are looking to close out the series and proceed to the Western Conference Finals.

"Obviously, we've got to be better," James said.

There were a total of six Lakers who scored in double figures in their latest game. The all-around effort from the Los Angeles squad is expected in game five if they want to finish the series.

"We've got to close out games the right way," James continued.

The Rockets squad implemented the unique small-ball system where they rely on high-octane offense with a lack of the conventional big man.

"We know we're in a big hole now, but the next game is the game we've got to win," Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said.

It will be interesting to monitor how the Lakers will fare in the coming playoff games. Closing out a team such as the gritty Houston Rockets will not be an easy task.

"We'll go out and if we lay it on the line like the way we did in the fourth quarter, we'll be fine," D’Antoni continued.

Despite being ahead 3-1, the Lakers are looking to take advantage of the momentum they’ve garnered and not let anything back.
