Since the 2017 NBA Finals concluded, rumors surrounding the future of Cleveland Cavaliers’ star LeBron James have been rampant. Many have speculated that the star forward would abandon his Cavaliers team for either of Los Angeles' teams — the Lakers or the Clippers — and the rumor could be true if his wife Savannah Brinson has any say about it.

James can opt to end his deal with the Cavaliers at the end of next season, and he has yet to talk about whether he wants to stay in Cleveland or leave. Since the NBA season is over, the extra time can lead many to speculate possible destinations for the Cavs forward. But latest reports may turn speculation into reality.

According to reports from Bleacher Report Monday, “Cleveland’s loss in the 2017 NBA Finals has led Lakers officials to hear more whispers about James’ interest in a final chapter in Los Angeles, where his wife would like to live full time,” sources said.

During an episode of "The Vertical Podcast with Woj" last week, Adrian Wojnarowski speculated as much.

"Not only is there no guarantee he’s coming back, I’m not sure there’s an expectation he’s re-signing there," he said. "I think they feel, I think within Cleveland, and around the league, they feel that he’s very much in play to leave again and likely head out West to one of the two L.A. teams. The Lakers could very well be a target."

He added, "I think the focus, a lot of LeBron's business interests, his Hollywood aspirations, his media ventures are based (in L.A.). And I wrote this last year and said it and believed it — the minute he won that championship in Cleveland, he was liberated to leave again."

There are a few things that could point to a James departure from Cleveland to the city of Los Angeles. Choosing a prime locale could stir things up for James. As in any relationship, both partners want to be on the same page when it comes to places to live.

James and his wife own a house in California where the whole family spends time together during the off-season. Apparently, his wife wants to live at the California home full time. It was reported in 2014 that a source said James and his wife enjoy Los Angeles.

More recently, it has been reported that James could head to the Clippers or the Lakers. James is allegedly in close contact with Clippers point guard Chris Paul and he respects his long-time coach Doc Rivers.

The idea that James has completed his legacy by getting Cleveland a title could also solidify possible reasons to exit.
