A provocative Instagram post made by LeBron James’ wife had nothing to do with his impending plans for free agency, according to a report.

On Sunday night, Savannah James posted a photo of a map of Ohio, along with a reference to Akron, LeBron’s hometown, which also happens to be located quite near to where the Cleveland Cavaliers play. “Home sweet home!! The countdown is real! #330,” the photo’s caption read.

The ambiguous post led to speculation that James, who will reportedly become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, planned to re-sign with the Cavaliers, the team that drafted him. However, a source close to James told ESPN that his wife’s post was merely a reference to the fact that the family plans to spend the summer at their home in Akron.

On Tuesday, Rich Paul, James’ agent, told ESPN that James would opt out of the final year of his existing contract with the Heat in order to test free agency ahead of the 2014-15 NBA season. However, he can still choose to return to Miami under a new contract.

James has yet to indicate if he has a preferred destination this off-season. However, he recently said that he’d welcome the flexibility afforded to him by free agency, ESPN notes. James hasn’t been a free agent since the summer of 2010, when he opted to leave Cleveland for Miami in a televised event known as “The Decision.”
