Eobard Thawne’s (Matt Letscher) reason for finding the Spear of Destiny is going to be revealed in next week’s episode of “Legends of Tomorrow.”

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly on SiriusXM radio show “Superhero Insider,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim said that the bulk of Season 2, episode 10 is about the Legion of Doom and “why they’re doing what they’re doing.”

“I would say that in the case of Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) and Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), this will be explicated in the episode … it will be relatively obvious,” Guggenheim said. “[But] the mystery that sort of pulls you through the episode is why does Eobard want the Spear of Destiny and … why does he need the Legion of Doom to help him get it.”

While Guggenheim was very cautious not to spoil any details about Eobard’s ultimate goal in looking for the Spear of Destiny, his fellow executive producer Phil Klemmer implied in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly that the villain’s main objective in finding the powerful relic might have something to do with him being “not a normal speedster.”

“The fact that Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) committed suicide in ‘The Flash’ Season 1 has made him not a whole person,” Klemmer said. Could this mean that Thawne plans to use the Spear of Destiny to resurrect Eddie from the dead? Only time will tell.

While episode 10 is basically told from the Legion of Doom’s perspective, Guggenheim said that the Legends are still present in the installment.

“The Legends are in it and there’s really a fun storyline with Stein’s (Victor Garber) daughter coming back,” Guggenheim said in the recent episode of “Superhero Insider.” “It still feels very much like an episode of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ cause it has the proper required amount of zaniness.”

“Legends of Tomorrow” Season 2, episode 10, aptly titled as “Legion of Doom,” airs on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW. Check out the synopsis and trailer for the episode below:

“The Legends are determined to find and rescue Rip (Arthur Darvill), but first must focus on locating the Spear of Destiny. Stein thinks he has the perfect person to help but knows involving her will be risky. Meanwhile, Malcolm Merlyn and Damien Darhk realize that Thawne is pitting them against each other.”
