The HTC One M9 was unveiled with much fanfare during the Mobile World Congress tech event in March this year. And LG unveiled the G4 handset a month later and it is now available for preorder in the U.S.

If you're trying to decide which one to buy, here's a side-by-side comparison of specs and pricing:

Design And Display

The HTC One M9 looks like its predecessor, only more "premium," thanks to the metal construction. It measures 9.6 mm in thickness and weighs 157 grams. The LG G4, the successor to the LG G3, also sports a premium appearance thanks to the leather back option. Since it has a curved body like the LG G Flex 2, the thickness of the device ranges from 6.3 mm to 9.8 and it weighs 155 g.

HTC One M9 houses the same 5-inch Super LCD3 screen available on the predecessor model. It supports full-HD resolution. On the other side, the LG G4’s Quad HD resolution support display along with 538 ppi delivers better contrast ratio and brightness, reports Android Geeks.

Processor, RAM And Storage

The HTC One M9 is powered by the Snapdragon 810 chip that houses a 64-bit processor and Adreno 430 graphics. The chipset is supported by 3 GB of RAM. The inbuilt storage of the One M9 is 32 GB and it supports up to 128 GB of microSD on an external storage slot.

The LG G4 has a slightly less powered Snapdragon 808 that features a 64-bit hexa-core processor and Adreno 418 graphics. Unlike the Snadpragon 810 chip that is plagued with throttling and lower-performance issues, the Snadpragon 808 chip is free from such issues. The LG G4’s chipset is supported by 3 GB of RAM. The native storage available on the LG G4 is 32 GB and the external storage slot can support up to 128 of microSD.

Camera And Software

The 20 MP rear camera on the HTC One M9 is powered by dual-LED flash. The front features a 4 MP camera. The LG G4 has a 16 MP camera that comes with support for Optical Image Stabilization and LED flash.

The HTC One M9 is shipped with Android 5.0 Lollipop along with LG UX 4.0 graphics. On the other side, the LG G4 comes preloaded with the most recent Android 5.1.1 Lollipop overlaid with Sense 7.0 UI.

Connectivity, Battery And Price

When it comes to connectivity, both LG G4 and HTC One M9 are offering identical connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, NFC, 3G, LTE through Cat.9 modem and more. The LG G4 has additional connectivity points like microUSB 2.0 with SlimPort for delivering 4K resolution output.

The LG G4 comes with a 3,000 mAh capacity battery. The battery provided with the HTC One M9 is of 2,840 mAh. Most U.S. carriers are selling it with $199 along with two-year contract. The off-contract price of the device is around $600. The HTC One M9 is also provided by leading carriers on a two-year contract price of $199. Without contract, it is available for around $600, reports Android Geeks.
