The LG G5 will be available for preorder starting March 18 via Best Buy in the U.S.

Best Buy has added a new page specific to LG G5 with preorder details in tow. However, the official release date has not been revealed yet. Reports point to April 8 as the possible release date in the U.K. and Canada. The G5 is believed to hit the store shelves in the U.S. starting April 1, according to GSM Arena.

Buyers should note that the LG G5 will ship with an additional battery unit along with a charging cradle free of charge. Interestingly, this device comes with a modular design. Even though the design is not exactly like Google’s Project Ara, which lets a device user change each part of the handset, it is along similar lines.

As far as the LG G5 price goes, so far, there is no word on the U.S. specific details. However, the Canadian price of this flagship has been revealed. Rogers will apparently be charging $799.99 CAD without a contract, which roughly translates to $604, GSM Arena noted.

Spec-wise, the LG G5 features a 5.3-inch IPS LCD display and 1,440 x 2,560 pixels screen resolution. This translates to a solid pixel density of 554 ppi. Under the hood, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset powers the device and it comes backed by 4 GB of RAM.

On the software end, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS comes straight out of the box with LG’s custom Optimus UX 5.0 on top of it. This device comes with a dual camera setup and hence, the main sensor has a 16-megapixel and an 8-megapixel unit combined to give better results. In addition, there is also an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies.

Speaking of battery configuration, the LG G5 houses a modest Li-Ion 2,800 mAh removable battery cell. But then, as mentioned earlier, LG offers an additional battery unit with every G5 and compensates the deficit.

To top it off, the G5 comes with rapid battery charging technology on board via Quick Charge 3.0. This feature can reportedly charge the handset from 0 percent to 83 percent in 30 minutes.

The G5 comes equipped with 32 GB of built-in storage space and microSD card slot for further expansion. LG has packed the now-famous Type-C 1.0 reversible connector on the device.
