LG G5, the upcoming device from the South Korean tech giant, is believed to flaunt cutting-edge configurations with a brilliant design in tow. The new report points to an early release date for the LG flagship.

LG is known for taking risk by not following the norm set by other OEMs. For instance, the power button of the LG G4 is located at the back and not to forget, LG is the pioneer in offering replaceable faux leather and patterned back shell. The recent release LG V10 comes packed with a “secondary ticker display” for notifications, which is a one of a kind feature for smartphones.

Moving on to the G5, the stand-out feature of the upcoming flagship is believed to be the usage of “iris recognition technology developed by IRIENCE.” This means, the ubiquitous fingerprint sensor mechanism could be replaced by an iris scanner for authentication, Slash Gear reported.

With such an illustrious history for innovation combined with mounting expectations, rumors are bound to be on a steady rise. If the latest report is to be believed, the LG G5 release date will coincide with the Mobile World Congress i.e. MWC 2016 event, scheduled towards the end of February. In comparison, the LG G4 was launched in April this year. Slash Gear, meanwhile, said that the G5 will be launched worldwide within a couple of weeks following the announcement.

As far as the rumored LG G5 specifications go, the device will reportedly carry a huge 5.6-inch IPS LCD display, bundled with 1,440 x 2,560 pixels screen resolution. Under the hood, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC has been tipped to power the device.

Speaking of design, ET News said that the smartphone will feature a full metal casing, unlike the G4. In general, LG is known for housing plastic/polycarbonate chassis. By the looks of it, this design equation is going to change with the LG G4 successor.

When it comes to camera specification, the handset will apparently sport a 21-megapixel sensor with laser autofocus, support for OIS, 4K video and dual-LED flash. In addition, there will be a generous 8-megapixel front-facing snapper for selfies. With rapid charging feature on board, the LG G5 will reportedly flaunt a battery unit with a capacity of 3,000 to 3,500 mAh.
