With tonight’s premiere of “Cheerleader Generation,” Lifetime’s taking viewers back to the world of competitive cheerleading at Dunbar High School, while also introducing them to that world over at University of Mississippi.

The team at Dunbar, which is located in Lexington, Kentucky, was first showcased on the network in 2006 with “Cheerleader Nation.” The eight-episode series followed coach Donna Martin as she led the squad, which included her daughter Ryan O’Connor, to Nationals.

With this new Lifetime docuseries, which consists of 10 hourlong episodes, Coach Donna is once again trying to get together a great group of cheerleaders at Dunbar High School. But it’ll also follow her daughter, who is now the head coach over at Ole Miss.

“While veteran coach Donna pushes her team to new heights to return Dunbar to its former glory of reigning champs,” the synopsis reveals, “Ryan is fighting to earn the respect of her peers, her collegiate team and her mother.”

The synopsis continues: “The stakes are high as Donna and Ryan also compete to be the first ever mother-daughter coaches going after national championship titles in the same year, while dealing with the real-life drama of college students trying to find their independence, high-school students trying to survive adolescence and their mothers who are trying to keep it all together too.”

The show kicks off with episode 1 tonight, which is all about the coaches finding the right cheerleaders for their respective squads. That’s right, it’s time for tryouts! See who makes Coach Ryan and Coach Donna’s teams when “Cheerleader Generation” premieres on Lifetime on Tuesday at 10 p.m. EDT.
