  • Adama Traore's current market value is around $33 million
  • He scored just three goals for Wolves last season
  • He is contracted with Wolves until 2023

Liverpool FC have reignited their interest in Wolves forward Adama Traore as they look to bolster their attack in the ongoing summer window.

Traore was linked with the Reds multiple times in the past. Liverpool have stepped up their interest and have contacted their Premier League rivals to discuss Traore's transfer, unnamed sources told Football Insider. However, International Business Times could not verify it independently.

Ahead of the 2021-22 season, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is eying to bolster his attacking options and he wants a versatile forward who can play down the middle, on both flanks and is able to carry the ball long distances. Liverpool had shown interest in Traore last summer but the deal never happened and instead, the Reds ended up signing his Wolves teammate Diogo Jota.

Jota had an impressive debut season with Liverpool, scoring 13 goals and one assist in his 30 matches for the Anfield side, across all competitions.

During the January transfer window, Wolves had labeled Traore with an asking price of around $48 million. However, since Traore finished the 2020-21 season with just three goals and as many assists for The Wanderers, Liverpool are expected to negotiate a lower transfer fee, according to ESPN. Traore's current value is around $33 million, according to Transfermarkt.

While Liverpool may be ahead in Traore's transfer case, they have to face competition from other top European clubs such as Chelsea and FC Barcelona, according to soccer website The Hard Tackle.

As an 8-year-old, Traore joined Barcelona's academy, La Masia, in 2004 and kickstarted his soccer journey at neighboring club L'Hospitalet. He spent nine long years at Barcelona's youth set up before making his first-team debut with the Catalans in 2013. He made just two appearances for Barcelona before he was sold to Premier League club Aston Villa in 2015 on a five-year deal.

After just a year at the Villa Park club, Traore was sold to Middlesbrough, where he finally began to gain attention for his game. In his second season at Middlesbrough, Traore netted five goals in 40 competitive matches and that impressed Wolves. They bought him in the summer of 2018.

The Spanish forward made his presence felt in the 2019-20 season, where he scored six goals and provided 12 assists for Wolves in 54 matches.
