Prolific Lille striker Victor Osimhen may not be headed to Napoli this summer as recent reports revealed that a move to Liverpool is now a done deal after Jurgen Klopp "officially asked" for him.

Osimhen was initially all set to sign with Napoli via an €81 million ($92.5 million) deal, according to previous reports. However, the in-demand prospect’s change of agent reportedly complicated the negotiations, forcing Napoli to start all over again.

According to Teamtalk, Osimhen’s new agent has managed to hold talks with Liverpool and Manchester United, the two other big clubs reportedly pursuing him.

Following these talks, veteran Rai Sport journalist Ciro Venerato provided an update, revealing that Liverpool boss Klopp has "officially asked" to sign Osimhen. Venerato also noted that Osimhen’s Napoli talks weren’t really a done deal as the Lille star still has doubts about coming to Italy and his dream is to play in the Premier League.

"New and perhaps decisive steps forward in Liverpool’s purchase of Osimhen. The change of agent has proven decisive. But we mustn’t forget the past. The boy had long had doubts about his destination. He dreamt of the Premier League," Venerato told Calcio Napoli 24 (via Sport Witness).

"Naples was his alternative choice in the absence of concrete offers. Now that Klopp has officially asked for him, it’s all over. The appeal of the European champions, the Reds is too strong, money aside. There’s not only economic reasons for Oshimen. The Premier League is the dream of all Nigerian boys," he added.

Osimhen has been in his best form in his debut season. The 21-year-old quickly emerged as a top prospect and is likely to move away from Lille this summer after scoring 18 goals in 38 games.

Liverpool has been linked to Osimhen, with reports suggesting that the Reds currently need a back-up for their attacking dynamic duo, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. The addition of Osimhen could give Liverpool’s attacking force a boost.

However, things could still go a different way once Liverpool decides that it won’t spend big for the striker.

Aside from Osimhen, the reigning Premier League champs are also heavily linked to another highly-rated player. Sources claimed that Klopp is planning to meet with RB Leipzig ace Nordi Mukiele over a possible move to Anfield this summer.

The report further stated that Klopp is considering Mukiele as a possible replacement for inconsistent veteran defender Dejan Lovren.
