Just 10 months removed from their Super Bowl appearance, the Los Angeles Rams find themselves in a virtual must-win situation. If L.A. can’t beat the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14 of the 2019 NFL season, their playoff hopes could go out the window.

With four games left on the schedule, the Rams face an uphill battle in their quest to make a third straight postseason appearance. Trailing both Seattle and the San Francisco 49ers by three games in the division, Los Angeles is all but guaranteed not to repeat as NFC West champions.

Earning a wild-card berth in the AFC would be much easier for the Rams. But Los Angeles is stuck in a difficult conference, where it could take 11 or even 12 victories to land the No.6 seed.

The Rams trail the Minnesota Vikings by a game for the NFC’s final wild-card spot. Minnesota’s upcoming schedule leaves Los Angeles no margin for error.

The Vikings should be favored in all four of their remaining games. Minnesota is the biggest favorite on the entire Week 14 schedule, laying nearly two touchdowns at home against the Detroit Lions. Kirk Cousins and Co. will close out the season against the Los Angeles Chargers, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.

Minnesota plays three of its final four games at home. Los Angeles will play two of its final three games on the road after hosting Seattle.

Few teams, if any, face a tougher three-game stretch from Week 14-16. The Rams will visit the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15 before going to San Francisco.

The Seahawks and 49ers are tied for the NFL’s best record. The Cowboys lead the NFC East.

The Rams should be heavy favorites over the Arizona Cardinals in the season finale.

Beating Seattle would improve Los Angeles’ chances of winning a potential tiebreaker over Minnesota. The Vikings have one more conference win than the Rams. If the two teams end the season with the same record against NFC teams, their record against common opponents would determine the tiebreaker.

The Vikings lost to the Seahawks in Week 13. Los Angeles lost in Seattle earlier this year.

The Rams won’t be mathematically eliminated from contention if Minnesota beats Detroit and Los Angeles loses Sunday night, but that scenario isn’t one that the defending NFC champs would realistically overcome.
