A new teaser trailer of “Maleficent 2” has been released. The TV spot titled “Darkest Twist” explains how the war between the fairies and the humans starts.

The main event in the upcoming film is the marriage between Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning) and Prince Phillip (Harris Dickinson). However, the teaser reveals that the wedding is actually a trap set up by Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer).

While Queen Ingrith will support the marriage on the surface, she will secretly prepare to kill all the fairies. The previous trailers have confirmed that the trouble starts with the family dinner, in which Angelina Jolie’s character is provoked into unleashing her anger inside the palace.

Princess Aurora will try and stop her godmother from going down a destructive path. However, the Queen of the Moors won’t stop.

A previously released teaser showed how a human child was able to change the “darkest of hearts.” However, the video also pointed out that while time changes many things, “it doesn’t change everything.”

There is still an evil streak left in Jolie’ character, which she will show in “Maleficent 2.” The video also confirmed that Princess Aurora will find out that the wedding is actually a trap set by her future mother-in-law. Will her fiancé believe her?

In a behind-the-scenes featurette, Jolie explained that the first film explored the true nature of her character after the fans knew her only as this evil being. In the sequel, the actress said, they are exploring the concept of whether everyone is “all good” or “all bad.”

Jolie’s character is a dark one, but the behind-the-scenes video pointed out that she is playful. “She’s just other worldly,” Pfeiffer said while complimenting her co-star. Fanning said that the Queen of the Moors is a “larger than life” character.

“Maleficent 2” has been directed by Joachim Rønning. The film will be released on Oct. 18.
