A new teaser image of “Maleficent 2” has been released online. Director Joachim Rønning also shared some insights about the plot, to help the audience understand what Angelina Jolie’s goes through in the film.

“Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” is part of the fall movies previewed by USA Today. The new picture is from the scene movie in which Aurora (Elle Fanning) enjoys her engagement party. The young princess will witness the fierce relationship between her adopted mother and future mother-in-law Queen Ingirth (Michelle Pfeiffer) in this scene.

The fans have already seen a little bit of the rivalry between the two queens in the trailer. What starts as jealousy and one-upmanship will quickly escalate to war.

Rønning shared some insights about the rivalry of the two queens in the preview. The director explained that Aurora is moving out in the film, which is something that Rønning said that he and other parents in the audience can relate to.

Aurora will get engaged to Prince Phillip (Harris Dickinson). However, she has no idea about the villainous mother-in-law.

The main theme of “Maleficent 2,” at least in the first half, will be about the rivalry of the two queens. Talking about Pfeiffer’s portrayal of the character, Rønning said that few actors can “hold their own” in a scene with Jolie, “especially when she puts on the horns.”

Jolie is not only putting on the horns in the film, but also going to war. A new teaser on the Instagram page of the film shows the character preparing for battle, and the post has also started the 2-month count down to the release of the movie. The countdown actually began last month, when there were only 100 days left for the movie to hit theaters.

“Maleficent 2” will be released on Oct. 18.
