A man in Ogden, Utah, was arrested Sunday after he allegedly killed his 10-month-old son on suspicion of the child being possessed.

According to a jail document, Alex Hidalgo, 37, told the child’s mother that the infant was possessed and he had built "an altar like they had talked about." The infant was found non-responsive in an apartment at 2400 Madison Avenue, Utah, on Friday and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Hidalgo went missing after the baby's death and was found late Saturday night. He was charged with two counts each of aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, desecration of a dead human body and six counts of failure to appear on citation.

According to a probable cause statement, he was watching two children when he stabbed the infant multiple times in the neck and threw him in a garbage can. When the child’s mother reached the apartment, she saw Hidalgo sitting on a couch, reading a bible and listening to religious music, CBS-affiliated television station KUTV reported.

When asked about Hidalgo Jr, he told her the child had "666" on him and he was dead. She thought he was joking but she couldn’t find the baby in the house. She continued searching the apartment and saw Hidalgo Jr. inside a garbage can in a closet. She called the police but by then Hidalgo fled. A neighbor attempted to give the boy CPR but was unable to resuscitate the child. Postmortem examination showed the child was stabbed three times in the neck.

Crime scene investigators found blood-soaked towels and carpets in the apartment and a paring knife in the kitchen sink that was “wet as if it had just been washed.” Hidalgo’s clothes, hands, and arms had blood on them when he was caught Saturday night.

Ogden City Police Department believes Hidalgo represents a danger to the community and hence he should be held without bail, Fox 13 reported.

In an unrelated incident in August 2017, a six-month pregnant woman was murdered by Satanists on kilometer six of the Route Six road in Argentina, which is believed to represent "666."

According to prosecutors Agustin Garcia and Fabian Flores, the victim was burnt and transported into a van. When the officials recovered the vehicle, they found traces of blood and hair from the victim in it. Three people were arrested in connection with the murder and satanic music and images featuring tridents and women in flames were found in one of the suspect's house.

According to the Bible, 666 is the number of the wild beast with seven heads and ten horns that comes out of the sea. According to a verse in New Testament’s Book of Revelation, “One who understands can calculate the number of the beast, for it is a number that stands for a person. His number is six hundred and sixty-six.”
