A man in Singapore was sentenced to prison this week after he threatened to release intimate videos and photos that were taken without his mistress' knowledge if she didn't compensate him following the end of their extra-marital relationship.

The man, identified as Chua Joo Kwang, was sentenced to seven months in jail Monday after he pleaded guilty to one count each of insulting the victim's modesty and criminal intimidation, with one count of stalking considered for sentencing, Yahoo News reported.

Chua and the unnamed 46-year-old woman — both of whom are Malaysians and permanent residents of Singapore — started an affair in 2011 after he engaged her for escort services, according to the outlet.

The man, who is married with two sons, gave her an allowance of $2,500 each month up until their relationship ended in December 2018.

Chua, however, continued to harass the woman over the next three months and sent her around 50 text messages via the mobile application WeChat. He insisted that they meet and also asked her to return him a year's worth of her allowance — amounting to around $30,000 — as compensation for their breakup.

Additionally, Chua also impersonated his own anonymous "friend" to threaten the woman. He reportedly used a fake mobile number with a U.S. country code that he had generated in December 2018.

The victim reportedly received messages from an anonymous individual using a foreign number between Feb. 10 and Feb. 16 of 2019. The individual later claimed to be a friend of Chua's named "M.”

The woman ignored the messages from M, who pestered her to meet Chua in order to pay the compensation. But M later sent her three intimate photos of herself with Chua and threatened to leak them if she continued to ignore the messages.

M then reportedly sent two more photographs on Feb. 13, 2019. One of the photos showed the victim nude, while the other one depicted her performing oral sex on Chua.

"Now I only send photos to you... maybe soon I might send more photos to your family and friends? Better you meet your bf soon to settle what he wants from you. You better satisfy him, make him happy and make sure it ends on his terms! Better for you that way. If your bf is happy, I am happy and there will be NO PROBLEM for you," M's follow-up message read.

Police seized Chua's laptop and mobile phone when they raided his home. Authorities discovered eight sexual videos involving Chua and the woman, all of which were taken with a hidden recording device on July 6, 2018, without the victim's knowledge and consent.

Chua said in mitigation that he had pleaded guilty, which ensured that the victim would not have to testify in court. He claimed that he regretted his actions, which he described as "out of character."

Chua also promised not to re-offend with the support of his family. "I betrayed my wife and two sons," he said.

He cited his clean record and pointed to a Buddhist practice that will "guide (him) on the right path," adding, "I have been in a mental prison for the last 13 months and I don't want to suffer again."

Prosecutors had sought an eight-month jail sentence for Chua as they claimed he had been motivated by a "degree of malice and greed," having "involved the prospect" of public humiliation to victimize the woman, the report said.

Chua had also abused his position as her boyfriend to take illicit videos of her and had suggested to send them to family and friends, Deputy Public Prosecutor Huo Jiongrui said.
