  • Eduardo Camavinga's agent Jonathan Barnett lifts the lid on his future

Manchester United is given a major boost in signing one of its targets following the player’s agent’s latest statement.

Shortly after teaming up with renowned agent Jonathan Barnett in December, Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga became a prospect for big-name European clubs.

Among the teams tailing the highly-regarded teenager is Manchester United. With Barnett confirming there’s a good chance Camavinga is headed to the English Premier League, some reports suggest that the Red Devils are likely to become the frontrunners to sign the 18-year-old.

“[Eduardo] Camavinga can play next year in the Premier League,” Barnett said on The Athletic. “He is that good. Whether he will or not, I don’t know.”

Barnett further explained that Camavinga is not an ordinary teenager. Based on the agent’s assessment, his client is equipped with the right tools to become a “superstar” in a major league.

“His background has been tough if you know what he went through as a refugee and the burning of his home,” the agent stated. “But his character is amazingly strong. He is not your average 18-year-old. Playing in front of 100,000 people is not going to scare him. He’s a lovely boy and I think he’s going to be a superstar.”

Aside from Manchester United, Camavinga has also been linked to a move to La Liga, specifically Real Madrid and Barcelona.

In February, Barnett already hinted at the possibility that Camavinga, whom he predicted to become “the best midfielder in the world,” could also see himself joining either Los Blancos or the Catalans.

"Let’s see what happens later on, but he’s doing well in Rennes and that’s fine,” Barnett exclusively told Goal of Camavinga’s future. “Being the best midfielder in the world, that’s how I see his future, [with] a lot of medals and a lot of trophies."

"[Real Madrid is] a great club, a great club to play for," he added. "Eduardo [Camavinga] will have a choice of a lot of clubs if Rennes decides to release him. They will be one of the four of five clubs in the world he might go to. Eduardo would love to play for a top club. [Real] Madrid is one of those top clubs in the world, so is Barcelona."

This season, Camavinga became a regular for Rennes, having played in 34 matches for the Ligue 1 side across all competitions. The French winger has managed to record one goal and one assist in the process.
