  • Dortmund reportedly are not planning to sell Jadon Sancho in January
  • Sancho was Manchester United's primary target this summer
  • Sancho scored 20 goals in 44 games for Dortmund last season

Jadon Sancho reportedly will not move to Manchester United even during the 2021 January transfer window after the Red Devils failed to sign him at the recently ended summer transfer market.

Sancho is currently contracted with Borussia Dortmund and the German side is not prepared to let go of the talented winger in January, as reported by German publication BILD. The 20-year-old is currently contracted with Dortmund until 2022 and has been labeled with a transfer fee of $140 million.

With 20 goals in 44 competitive matches, Sancho was a key member of the Dortmund squad last season. He has already opened his scoring in the underway 2020-21 campaign with one goal in three appearances. The BILD report stated Sancho will stay put with Dortmund for the entire season, and the club will aim at cashing in on the player next summer.

Man Utd failed to sign any of their primary targets at the 2020 summer transfer window. Even though they made a few signings, the club did not sign any of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s shortlisted four target players.

Apart from Sancho, Solskjaer even wanted to bring Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish to Manchester. Instead, the Grealish signed a five-year new deal with his boyhood club. The other players on Solskjaer’s list were RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano and Bournemouth's Nathan Ake. Solskjaer wanted the duo to partner The Red Devils’ captain Harry Maguire at the heart of their defense.

As many as five players were signed by Man Utd at the summer transfer window that ended Oct. 5. The Red Devils’ first summer signing was midfielder Donny van de Beek, who moved from Ajax to Old Trafford at a fee of $51 million. On the deadline day of the summer window, Man Utd signed Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on a free transfer. The former Premier League champions signed FC Porto’s left-back Alex Telles for a fee close to $20 million and 18-year-old winger Facundo Pellistri for $11 million from Uruguayan club Penarol. Meanwhile, teenage promising forward Amad Diallo is set to join Man Utd from Atalanta in January 2021.

Having lost two out of their first three matches, Solskjaer’s side has had a disastrous start to their Premier League season. Just before the start of the international break last month, Man Utd suffered a humiliating 6-1 loss at home to rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Man Utd will aim to return to winning ways ahead of their upcoming Premier League match against Newcastle on Sunday.
