  • Casemiro has been at Real Madrid since 2013
  • He still has two years left on his contract
  • Manchester United are still looking to strengthen their side this summer

Manchester United are reportedly close to signing Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro ahead of the deadline day 2022.

Manchester United are confident of landing Casemiro and progress has been made in the transfer talks between both parties, Goal.com reported. The Brazilian defensive midfielder, who has been at Real Madrid since 2013, still has two years left on his current contract at Los Blancos.

After failing to secure Frenkie de Jong from FC Barcelona, a frustrated Erik ten Hag has now made Casemiro his target before the end of the 2022 summer. The Old Trafford side has also dropped the idea of signing Juventus' Adrien Rabiot because of the French midfielder's personal demands.

The Red Devils are set to pay around $72 million for Casemiro, including $10 million as add-ons, Sky Sports reported. The Red Devils are planning to offer a four-year deal to the player, with an option to extend by another year. The report further stated that the deal will unlikely be completed in time for Manchester United's upcoming home game against Liverpool as the Brazil national does not have a visa yet.

Casemiro is expected to undergo medical tests with Manchester United in the next 48 hours, according to Fabrizio Romano, who has a credible record in the European transfer market.

The arrival of Aurelien Tchouameni at Santiago Bernabeu has given a message to Casemiro that he may not be at the top of the pecking order anymore. Therefore, the Brazilian soccer star is keen to move away for more game time.

Casemiro has won everything with Real Madrid and now wants a new challenge, the Goal report claimed. Los Blancos are also believed to have accepted his wish of leaving the club.

Manchester United have had a nightmarish start to the 2022-23 Premier League campaign. They have lost both their opening games: 2-1 vs Brighton and 4-0 vs Brentford. Since the Red Devils finished outside the top four in the league last campaign, they failed to secure a Champions League slot and will compete in the Europa League this season.
