Paul Pogba reportedly may not sign an extension with Manchester United this summer despite receiving a huge offer from the Red Devils.

Manchester United have offered Pogba wages around $543,000-a-week that would make him the highest earner at Old Trafford, surpassing David de Gea's weekly salary of $511,000, reported The Athletic. The new deal would see Pogba commit to the Red Devils until 2026.

The new offer is massive for Pogba, who currently earns around $395,000-a-week at Manchester United. He has entered the final year of his deal at Old Trafford and if he does not sign an extension this summer, he'll be allowed to negotiate with other clubs as a free agent in January.

Manchester United want to retain Pogba, who became their most expensive signing when they brought him back to Old Trafford in 2016 at $123 million from Juventus. The former Premier League champions do not want to lose Pogba on a free transfer and the club is under immense pressure because of Pogba's recent strong links with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

PSG are willing to offer Pogba a lucrative deal that would see him earn $705,000-a-week, which is quite more than Manchester United's latest offer for the French midfielder, as per reports.

PSG recently produced one of the most remarkable shows in the history of transfer markets by signing Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Georginio Wijnaldum on free transfers before the start of the 2021-22 season. Adding Pogba to that list next summer could further strengthen their already decorated squad.

Pogba kickstarted the 2021-22 Premier League on a high as he provided four assists in Manchester United's 5-1 win over Leeds at Old Trafford on Saturday. He had an impressive run with the France national team as well at the Euros 2020, where he netted a goal and provided an assist in four matches.

Across two stints, Pogba has netted 38 goals and 49 assists in 209 competitive appearances for Manchester United.

The Red Devils will next face Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.
