  • Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand is impressed with Tottenham striker Heung-min Son
  • Ferdinand would like to sign Son if he were a club manager
  • Spurs legend David Ginola thinks Tottenham could become champions with Son, Harry Kane and Gareth Bale

Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand thinks Tottenham Hotspur striker Heung-min Son is a player every Premier League club should pursue.

Son is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career with the Spurs. The South Korean striker has been instrumental in most of Tottenham’s wins in the English top-flight, including scoring a 25-yard opening goal during Sunday’s north London derby against Arsenal.

Weighing in on Son’s fine form, Red Devils legend Ferdinand pointed out that if he was a club owner, he would definitely sign Jose Mourinho’s lethal striker.

“[Heung-Min] Son – if there’s a player I could take now who I feel is gettable, he’d be up there as one of my first picks,” he recently said on “Rio Ferdinand presents FIVE.” “Definitely in my top three.”

Ferdinand is pleased with Son’s nose for goals, and for the former England defender, it seems like there’s nothing the former Bayer Leverkusen striker cannot do inside the pitch.

“I love the way he plays – he directs, he hurts teams, he wants to score all the time,” the 42-year-old added of Son. “He can go off both feet, he looks like a fantastic lad as well.”

Before lauding Son, he recounted his memories with his fellow Red Devils legend Ji-sung Park. According to Ferdinand, Son is at the pinnacle of his career at the moment, but Park was the first Asian player who impressed him.

“Is Son the best Asian player to come to the Premier League?” Ferdinand told viewers. “I played with a great – more of a player’s player – but an absolute top professional in Ji-Sung Park.”

“Ji-Sung Park, you want him in your team,” he continued. “I remember he man-marked Andrea Pirlo out of a game once. Pirlo was waking up in the middle of the night and Ji was at the bottom of the bed giving him nightmares.”

Aside from Ferdinand, Tottenham legend David Ginola is also astounded by Son’s overall qualities. For Ginola, Son, along with Harry Kane and Spurs’ on-loan signing Gareth Bale, could lead Mourinho’s side to title contention once again.

“The progression of Son is just amazing,” Ginola recently said on TalkSport. He’s one of the best players in the world now! A few years ago, he was just a guy coming from South Korea.”

“You add [Harry] Kane, you add Bale, you add other players and the way they play from the back to the front, they have a strong goalkeeper, a strong defense, they can be very creative in midfield and score goals up front – it’s a perfect combination to win the league,” he added.
