  • His contract is due to expire in the 2022 summer
  • Pogba is ready to move to Paris

Manchester United star Paul Pogba is reportedly close to moving to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) ahead of the 2022 summer transfer window.

Pogba's current contract with Manchester United is due to expire at the end of the 2021-22 season, and the midfielder has decided not to sign an extension.

He has now met PSG's sporting director Leonardo regarding an offer from the Ligue 1 side. Pogba has conveyed to Leonardo that he would be happy to move to Paris, French publication Foot Marceto reported.

Since Pogba's wage demands are quite high, PSG may not receive competition from any other club for the France national's signing, according to Sports Illustrated.

Last month, Pogba himself admitted that he has not been satisfied with his second stint at Manchester United, where he moved from Juventus in 2016.

Into his sixth season at Manchester United, Pogba has struggled with many injuries over the last few years. He has missed more than 80 games since his second debut with the Red Devils.

"We have to be honest, I am not satisfied over the last 5 years, but not at all. This year, it's dead, we will win nothing again. Whether it is with Manchester or in another club, I want to win trophies," Pogba said at the time.

Pogba currently earns $377,146 per week at Manchester United, according to Spotrac. The Manchester club are believed to have given up hope of reaching an agreement with Pogba over an extension after the former Juventus midfielder turned down a new offer that would have seen him earn weekly wages of $520,000.

Even Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney has suggested that it is time for Pogba to "move on" and leave the Old Trafford club.

"I think it's got to the point now where it’s probably better if he moves on. If Paul is honest with himself, he's probably not had the impact he would have liked since he returned. I watch him play for France and he’s a completely different player. His ability, his vision, control of the game is there in every game for France," Rooney said.

It has also been reported that since Pogba is close to leaving Manchester United, the club has tied down Bruno Fernandes in a long-term contract.

In the 2021-22 Premier League, Manchester United have fallen to No. 7 in the table with 51 points after 31 games. If they fail to finish in the top four, the Red Devils will miss out on the Champions League.
