  • Amad Diallo joined Man Utd in the summer of 2021
  • Man Utd paid $25 million to Atalanta for Diallo
  • He has played nine times for Man Utd's senior side

Manchester United's young winger Amad Diallo has been sent on loan to Scottish club Rangers in the ongoing January transfer window.

Diallo will play for the Scottish champions until the end of the 2021-22 season, according to Manchester United's official website.

The loan move does not include an option to buy, BBC Sport reported.

The 19-year-old winger made his first-team debut with Manchester United during the 2020-21 season. Before agreeing to the loan deal, Diallo made nine appearances for the senior side, scoring one goal and assisting one.

"I am delighted to join Rangers until the end of the season. It is fantastic for me at this stage of my career to have the opportunity to come to such a big club that is challenging on a number of fronts and will give me some excellent opportunities to test myself in many environments. I look forward to training with my teammates for the first time tomorrow and to meeting the fans for the first time at Ross County on Saturday," Diallo told Manchester United's official website.

Rangers' next game is a league fixture against Ross County, which would see Diallo make his debut for the Glasgow-based club.

"The 19-year-old winger goes straight into the Gers squad for Saturday's match at Ross County, and will add further to manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst's attacking options, given his pedigree from two of Europe's top leagues, as well as continental competition," Rangers said on their official website.

Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson described Diallo's move as "a really exciting signing for us."

"Amad and United had an array of options this window across the Premier League and in Europe. We have been working hard with Manchester United and Amad's agents throughout January to reach an agreement. We have stayed patient in our discussions as we know what Amad can bring to our group," Wilson said, BBC Sport reported.

Diallo was close to joining Dutch club Feyenoord on loan last summer but an injury during training stopped the move.

The Ivory Coast national moved from Atalanta to Manchester United at $25 million during the 2021 January transfer window. He is considered one of the most talented wingers in European soccer.
