While the fans wait for “The Mandalorian” Season 2, Disney has planned something special for May. An eight-episode documentary series will be released on Disney+ soon that will take the viewers behind-the-scenes.

Every year, fans celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4. The franchise does something special to mark the occasion, and this time around, Disney is releasing a video that explores how the live action TV series starring Pedro Pascal came to life.

According to the official Star Wars website, the new documentary series is titled “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian.” Show creator Jon Favreau will take the viewers behind-the-scenes to reveal how he and his team made the TV series. Apart from the producer, the video will also feature interviews of some of the cast members.

Each episode of the documentary series will explore a different aspect of making the TV series. The fans will also get to see some never-before-seen footage. The video will explain the technology and practical models that were used, and it will also show how they made some of the creatures that were featured.

It isn’t clear if a teaser for “The Mandalorian” Season 2 will be included in the documentary. Filming for the next season wrapped some time back, and “Star Wars” creator George Lucas got to visit the set previously. Favreau shared a picture of Lucas examining the prop that was used for the character known as The Child on the show.

The documentary series will help Disney to cope with the problem of not having enough new content for the fans because of the coronavirus lockdown, The Verge reported. Production of many of the movies and TV shows have been stopped because of the social distancing measures that are in place, and this has affected the release dates of many of the projects of all the major companies.

According to Collider, the popular TV series has made use of modern technology to deliver some stunning visuals and sound for “Star Wars” fans, which the viewers will get to learn about in the documentary series. The focus for many will be about how the team created The Child, who is lovingly referred to as Baby Yoda by the fans.

“The Mandalorian” Season 2 will be released in October.
