MARCH MADNESS PREDICTION: Winners and Losers in the Final Four
All four teams in the upcoming Final Four games this Saturday offer a unique story.
There are no shortage of storylines as each compete to win the National Championship.
Virginia Commonwealth is the Cinderella story of the year. Unlike the other three teams, the Rams didn't get a chance to skip the first round, and as an 11th seed in the tournament, they are only one of three 11th seeds to ever make the Final Four.
The Butler Bulldogs shocked many basketball fans by returning to the Final Four by beating number one-seed Pittsburgh and number two-seed Florida. Butler managed to beat Old Dominion in the first round off a buzzer beater, and escaped past Pittsburgh after a bizarre exchange of foul calls.
Butler and VCU will play each other on Saturday in the first game.
The Kentucky Wildcats, a traditional power, played above most experts' expectations. They escaped past Princeton, and beat number one-seed Ohio State in a thriller. The Wildcats have received a great tournament contribution from low-profile big man Josh Harrellson.
Connecticut, who've had great success in the Jim Calhoun era, have been excelled thanks to star guard Kemba Walker. The senior has led the Huskies, who finished ninth in the Big East, past the surging Arizona Wildcats and by scoring 18 points or better in each tournament game.
Connecticut play Kentucky following the Butler-VCU game.
Both games are tough to call, but the Bulldogs have the leadership of Matt Howard and the experience to overcome the athleticism of VCU.
Though Walker will be difficult to contain, the combination of freshman star Brandon Knight and Harrellson should be enough for Kentucky to sneak into the Final.
PREDICTION: Butler over VCU, 75-69
PREDICTION: Kentucky over UConn, 65-66
