There have been many rumors about Mariah Carey in 2018 related to her career and relationship, with one report saying that the singer was planning a wedding. All such stories turned out to be false in the end. Here’s a look at the biggest debunked rumors of the singer from last year.

According to Gossip Cop, there was a story in March last year that claimed that Carey proposed to her boyfriend Bryan Tanaka and that the two were supposed to get married soon. 2018 has ended, but there have been no wedding bells, which proves that the rumor was false. A spokesperson for the singer has also confirmed that the story is untrue.

On the career front, there was a story in December that said Carey was jealous of Lady Gaga’s success. The singer, according to the story, was interested in being cast in a film for an “Oscar-worthy” role. A representative of the singer has confirmed that this story is also false.

Another rumor about Carey was that Ryan Seacrest invited her to perform at “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” 2019. The story has also been debunked.

Carey actually performed at the Nikki Beach St. Barth luxury retreat to ring in the New Year. The singer posted a picture of her dress for the event on Instagram. She wrote in her post that she couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate New Year’s Eve than performing at this “magical” place. A picture of her performance has been posted on the Instagram page of Nikki Beach World.

Now that the 2018 rumors have been debunked, Carey is looking ahead for a bright year. According to Billboard, it has been a great start so far for the singer as her song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has taken the no. 1 spot in the ARIA Singles Chart of 2019. The song first made its debut back in 1994 and has since been coming back on the list every December since 2012. This, however, is the first time ever that her track has raced up to the top spot.

According to Forbes, Carey has “plenty to celebrate” in 2019, thanks to her classic song performing like never before, and she can also be proud of all that she has accomplished recently. Some of her other songs that have made it to the top 10 list in the last decade are “Touch My Body” and “Obsessed.”
