The “Married At First Sight” couples are a week away from decision day, so the Lifetime reality show is sending them on a couples retreat. They headed to a cabin in the woods to spend a little quality time as a group in Season 9, episode 12.

Jamie and Elizabeth

These two meet up for the first time in four days. Jamie tells his wife that he has enjoyed his time in a positive space with no complaining, but he is ready to give their relationship yet another chance.

He wants them to take a step back. Jamie knows sex has been a point of contention, so he decides that they should abstain while they work on their emotional connection. Beth wonders how long that will last.

At the cabin, Jamie tells Greg that he thinks they focused too much on sex. Greg and Deonna took it slow, and they seem to have a stronger relationship.

Jamie admits to the guys that they really connect, but he isn’t sure

Iris and Keith

During the couples retreat, Iris admits that marriage has been a big change because she grew up an only child. Thinking about someone else’s needs is an adjustment, but she’s getting there.

When the “Married at First Sight” couples separate into groups of just the husbands and just the wives, Keith tells the guys that he isn’t so sure Iris is his soul mate. He tells the guys that he knows his wife wants to stay married, but he questions if it’s just to avoid failure or because she loves him.

Matt and Amber

Amber tells a friend that Matt goes out with his friends most nights, and her friend questions if Matt really values her. More importantly, Amber realizes she deserves more than she is getting out of the marriage. Still, she is hoping to make things work with her husband.

When they’re on the retreat, Matt tells everyone that this marriage is a lot more work than he expected, but he thinks it’s worth it. He acknowledges that sometimes he just needs time on his own to bring his best self to the marriage. Amber, however, wonders if this is just a façade he is putting on for the group because he words and actions don’t line up.

When the guys are on their own, Amber tells the other women that Matt “absolutely” has commitment issues. She hopes he can part with his bachelor lifestyle.

Matt, however, tells a very different story to the guys. He tells them that they have such a strong bond, but he’s been working on their relationship and trying to make his wife happy so much that he hasn’t stopped to ask if he is happy. Clearly, Matt and Amber aren’t on the same page.

Deonna and Greg

On a double date with Deonna’s sister, Greg quickly asks for advice while his wife isn’t around. He wants to know how to break her walls down, but even her sister isn’t sure how to help. Still, they have a fun time throwing axes, and Deonna is happy that she isn’t just the third wheel anymore.

Deonna isn’t in love with her husband yet, but they’re on the right track. She has added an extra “really” when she says she likes him. Ultimately, they seem like the most stable of the “Married at First Sight” Season 9 couples.
